The problem:
- Most intermediate guitarists have blind spots on the fretboard.
- Most intermediate/advanced guitarists don’t know the chords to all the fingerboard positions,
as also they don’t know how to move them across the neck diatonically, in any key,
at any scale or mode, horizontally and vertically.
The solution:
Reading this article and practicing the exercises:
- You’ll have a practical understanding of how you can apply the music theory on the instrument.
- You’ll learn all the positions, of all the 7th chords and you’ll be able to “see” them in a diatonic context.
- You’ll have a practical understanding of the intervals
- You’ll be able to harmonize any major scale across the neck, horizontal and vertical.
Below it is a score showing:
- the construction of the C Major scale:
W-W-H-W-W-W-H
W=Whole step
H=Half step
- the harmonization of the C major scale stacking diatonic 3rds, 5ths and 7ths over each degree
